| For all the talk there is about obnoxious parents of youth athletes, maybe what is needed is for some of those parents to have their Karmic balance adjusted. This guy wasn't at a youth sporting event, but he definitely had his Karma adjusted.  More...Posted On: 4/22/2007 | Posted By: sportsaholic@softwerkz.com | Permalink I am a firm believer that youth sports need to be more than just about the parents and even more about the athletes themselves. The 9th Annual Spalding World Youth Basketball Tournament (http://www.wybt.com) is being held in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii from July 24th - 29th, 2007. The American School of Dubai will be represented along with teams from New Zealand, Canada, Guam, Native Hawaiian teams, Native American Indian teams as well as teams from all over the mainland US will be present.  More...Posted On: 4/22/2007 | Posted By: sportsaholic@softwerkz.com | Permalink Friday the 13th always seems to bring out the odd story or the article about Paraskevidekatriaphobia (morbid, irrational fear of Friday the 13th ). I am sure that April the 13th, 2007 was no different. But this article makes an interesting observation that many kids today are embracing the number 13 and are requesting it as their jersey number for whatever sport they play. I came to the realization of my center point this week when I read a couple of articles centered on Zambonis.  More...Posted On: 4/4/2007 | Posted By: sportsaholic@softwerkz.com | Permalink According to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, 70 percent of the 50 million kids in America that are playing organized sports will quit by the time that they are 13 years old. More and more they are saying that they are quitting because their parents are criticizing their performance and there is too much emphasis put on winning.  More...Posted On: 4/2/2007 | Posted By: sportsaholic@softwerkz.com | Permalink I found another article on some common youth sports topics. | Youth sports is a huge business and is growing every day. Every year millions of parents spend alot of money on equipment and fees and countless hours travelling to and attending sporting events in order to give their kids the chance to play team sports and participate in organized individual competitions. At the same time, those kids are spending countless hours practicing and competing in individual and team sporting events. While an increasing number of children and adults experience poor nutrition, poor physical fitness and are becoming increasingly more obese, the participation of today's youth in HEALTHY physical activity, sports and competion becomes increasingly more important. The goal of Youth Sports Watch is to find and bring to you the best news, resources, entertainment and sports equipment prices and information related to youth sports.
